Navel Piercing

 HI GUYS.
If you follow me on twitter (@meloided), you would have known that i got my navel piercing today (YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY) hehe. And Rachael was with me :)
I swear i was damn nervous before that and i didnt know how painful it'll be.i saw many videos of people getting their navel piercing and it looks really scary. Just thinking about it, the thickness of your skin at your tummy is so thick and if there's a needle piercing through so much skin wouldn't it hurt like CRAZY? but no i was wrong it didnt hurt that much! (read more to know more hoho)

Photos:

One of my favourite shorts from f21!
OOTD: Pink velvet top, Shorts from F21 and white x pink shoes (I LOVE EM)
I would usually wear highwaisted shorts if i'm wearing a crop top because i'm obviously not too
confident about my own body actually.i wouldnt want to show my fats lol.
but just thinking of how the highwaisted shorts would hit my piercing if i sat down (OUCH) made
me change to midwaist shorts instead.
So right, we went to Far East Plaza, lv 3, just in front of the escalator, there's a shop called "Primitive Art Piercing and Tattoo". It has a v good reputation especially after xiaxue got her tongue pierced there on clicknetwork.tv, so we decided to go there since it seems to be reliable and all.
The two female assistants (foreigners) were kinda oddly dressed and they dont look very experienced (i dont know why but something just tells me so). They told me that it'll cost $40 to pierce and $40 for the NORMAL STUD.
like what the heck, $80 for a navel piercing? And i read online that there are piercing shops at $15 at woodlands checkpoint (dont know if its reliable) but $50 would be the average normal pricing.

However, i already filled up the form and chose the stud lol, they like kept rushing me to choose this fill in this and that, but i told rachael to go ahead first because i was obviously not willing to pay $80 when people are paying $50 wth. I even whatsapped Grace that the piercing was gonna be $80 and she was like "SIAO" hahaha.

So even though i was at the piercing shop and getting all excited already i did not get my navel pierced yet. It was so saddening! So rachael got her nose pierced at $80 but she also bought an additional transparent stud (but the pricing is madness).

So i told the woman that i will come back later or another day for the navel piercing LOL and she didnt seem happy. Just looking at their not-so-friendly attitude already made me not want to pierce there (what if they dont like me and anyhow pierce? D:)
But anyway, so we had to call a number of people (those who have had piercings) and ask them where they got their piercing. In the end we walked around far east to look for more piercing shops!
We only found 2 more piercing shops and one of them looked like a chinese medical shop somehow lol,but they had piercing services at $50-65? It was pretty weird.
But lastly we found "Rise Above Tattoo and Piercing"! Normal stud + piercing at $50 only and the studs look just like the one i chose at Primitive (shop that pierces at $80). One of the guys even looked familiar so i just decided on going for that.

He brought me to a mini room and he asked me a few questions. And i actually said "you look very familiar, are you the guy who pierced xiaxue's tongue?" AND OMG HE TURNED OUT TO BE THAT GUY.he and his group of friends working at Rise Above are actually all from Primitive! But they had some problems with the boss and they left and opened this shop. After that, the boss from primitive marked up the pricing of the studding services and everything by A LOT.
The stud that i chose at primitive and the studs they displayed were all from the same supplier so the quality is THE SAME.i saved $30 just like that hahahaha. And rachael's piercing and extra stud she got could have been $30 cheaper :( Ah, i feel kinda bad not telling her what i thought but the two women at primitive like kept standing around and i couldnt speak my mind lol.

Anyway, the service was very good and he was super professional. At first he'll put a clamp,to like pinch my fats.... and then he'll just put the needle through. I kept holding my breath so he kept telling me to relax and breathe in and out lol. After like 10 seconds I looked down and the stud was already there HAHA. It wasn't as painful as i thought. The pain of the clamp pinching my skin was about the same amount of pain when the needle was pushing through?so if you wanna get your navel pierced go try clamping your own skin, that's just how it feels LOL.

I would really recommend you guys going there to get your piercings since they are reliable and experienced (because they're from primitive), and yet its cheaper. :D

Now i cant slouch anymore i think it'll hurt a lot (but take this chance to improve my posture?i'm sitting really straight now lol) + I CANNOT LAUGH TOO MUCH if not it'll hurt + i doubt i can exercise because when i breathe in and out too fast it'll hurt a little + i cannot wear my highwaisted shorts for now :( + I CANNOT GO SWIMMING YET + i cannot change to my dreamcatcher stud until 6-8 weeks later :(
Sigh, so sad right?especially the part whereby i cant laugh too much (cause i always laugh a lot at everything lol whatever dont laugh at me)

YAY, i lovvvvvvvvvvvvvve my navel piercing!

Anyway i didnt practice my piano yesterday and i'm feeling guilty as per normal lol. Urgh, shall take the next 2 hours to practice.
Bye! <3

  1. So you get your navel at far east? But it does need age right?

  2. Anonymous 1: Hi, yeah i got my navel pierced at Rise Above located at far east! If i'm not wrong its 16 and above to get pierced. If you're underaged you'll have to get parental consent (dont know how this would work) but i guess they dont really check.just dont dress up in a kiddy manner and it should be fine!

    1. How do they check if you're 16

    2. Hey if they see that you look really young they might ask for ID, but they didnt in my case. Dont think they're really bothered by your age :)

  3. Haha, I got it pierced at Sunday at rise above too, I totally felt the needle went through my skin like a normal ear piercing. Quite painful, but after that, it's quite worth it. He was very friendly too ^^

    1. Haha the pain is totally worth it! The piercing is damn nice but might get an infection so must take care of it properly :)

  4. OHMYGOSHH i love navel piercing but exercising is my thing without running a day i will go bonkers :( hmm should i pierce it? :/ i jog about 45 min per day! Do you think it will hurt?

    1. Hey! Yeah navel piercings are really nice and worth the pain. Probably for the first few days / weeks you wouldn't be able to do exercises like sit ups cause it'll fold your stud (but once it recovers fully in a few months it wouldn't affect anymore) but running should be fine! Just avoid wearing dangling studs when running if not you can feel the pull and weight and it might hurt haha. Good luck!

  5. Hey do you know of any good tongue piercing shops? :) Preferrably within the budget of 50 bucks!

    1. Hey! I would recommend rise above tattoo as well because they were really good. My navel piercing there cost 50$ and I'm guessing it's the same price for tongue piercing. Don't go to primitive, they're overpriced!

  6. hey do you know if there's a minimum age to get a tatt at rise above and how much it may cost?

  7. Hey if I'm not wrong it's 16 and above. But they didn't check when i went. It'll probably be $150 or so for a quote. Depends on size and design. Hope this helps!

  8. How many months did it take to recover?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi! It's supposed to take 6weeks to recover (then you can start changing studs and all) but for mine it took wayyyyy longer i guess because im rather sensitive to certain kinds of silver so it took about 3months from when i pierced it to completely recover!

  9. How long did it take before u could start wearing tight fitting clothes again? like skirts, belts and all that go over ur belly piercing >< cos i am so tempted to get one, but not sure how long it would take before it heals/ stops hurting and stuff.

    1. Hey!! It took about 2months before i could wear highwaisted shorts normally again. I think tight clothes are still fine!! It'll take some time to heal but it's worth the wait :)

  10. Hey! After the piercing, did the skin around the piercing area hurt a lot or was very uncomfortable? I love it but i'm worried that it will interfere too much with my daily activities. Thanks!

    1. Hi! I had to sit really straight for day 1 after piercing but after that it was pretty much tolerable. Just make sure not to change your stud too soon and it'll be fine! There's a price to pay for everything you do and I'm sure this would be worth it :) goodluck

  11. HI! About how long then can you move about without it hurting? :)

  12. hi, do you know how much is it for tongue piercing?

  13. Hi,
I also did my navel last week, now its swollen a bit and turned red around top stud. And I can see a bit of puss like liquid started. Is it normal or need to see a doc? I dont want it to be removed. I liked it very much.
    thanks in advance...

    1. Hi!! I think you should check with your piercer if you're very worried about the infection cause they will be able to tell whats the problem. I had the same issue and it subsided after a while but it was a painful process. After i checked with the piercing shop they gave me some sea salt to wash my wound with. Hope this helps!!

      Delete
    2. thanks for the reply....now we are cleaning with saline twice a day, I just want to know if these symptoms are common or any signs of infection..

      Delete
    3. It is common and usually nothing much to worry about as long as you care for it and it depends on individual! Not everyone might have such implications as our bodies would have a different reaction to such piercings :) hope it'll recover soon!

  14. Hey! Do u recommend going to primitive or rise above to get nose piercing? And price wise? Thanks! (:

    1. I'll definitely recommend rise above! My friend did her's at primitive and it was a lot more expensive. You could do a price comparison haha it's on the same floor

    2. Alright! Thanks so much for the reply! (:

  15. Hi! :) im planning to get a helix piercing but cant decide between primitive and rise above. Do the stores provide solution to clean the piercing and aftercare service?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hey! Almost all shops have aftercare and give you things to clean up the piercing like alcohol etc but i would recommend rise above as primitive is a lot more costly and the people working there are mostly foreigners now and idk if they're that experienced. The person working at rise above used to work at primitive and set up that shop so it should be better!

    2. Thanks for your reply! :) the only thing stopping me now is that im scared of the pain (my 1st and 2nd ear lobe piercings are done by gun.. the thought of using a needle sounds scary!! ) and my mum doesnt like it (but im 19 i dont need parental consent for this hahahah)

      Delete
    3. Hahaha if you like it, i could only say that you should totally go for it! I was only 18 when i did my navel piercing and before i went for it i told my parents about it and they didn't like it too but these are things you would want as a teen and so, why not haha. The needle used to pierce my navel was probably way bigger than the one for helix and i could watch the process LOL let's just say, it was a bearable pain!

  16. Would dancing be possible after the piercing? Coz im super scared if the tummy area can't like do stretching and stuff. Like would it feel as if the area would tear or smth 😅

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi dear!! It'll hurt when you crutch forward for the first few weeks at least, if you can take a break from dancing for awhile after the piercing it'll be better if not you'll just have to be extra careful! Avoid highwaisted shorts for awhile as well haha

      Delete
    2. Ahhh i see... But its a manageable pain right? Haha im super scared of pain crap. But thanks so much for the advice! Appreciate it alot!

    3. I wont deny that its scary to get the piercing done but in my opinion it's totally worth all of it!! So no worries on the pain factor hahaha. No problem babe! ;)

  17. Hi,
Did you have to go back to the store for a check up several weeks after the piercing? :)

    1. I didnt! But you can go back to check if there's an infection, just remember not to wear a dress there :)

  18. Hello! May i know roughly how much it is for a helix piercing?

  20. do you know any places that do it cheaper?

    1. Never, other than people doing it themselves. The needle is pretty thick, so i would rather pay a little more just to make sure nothing goes wrong!

  21. Hi! Do you know how much is a septum piercing there?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi! I just read your story and I am super excited! My friend and I are gonna get piercings tomorrow and I will be getting a nose piercing. I have never done this before so I am really freaked out about it and the safety and all that stuff. So as far as I have read, Primitive Art and Rise above are both good. But which one would you recommend and why? How good is Rise Above's aftercare?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I would choose rise above cause it's cheaper and the guy actually came from primitive and set up his own shop. Nowadays primitive has a lot of foreigners who dont really do the piercings properly and ive heard of ppl bleeding a lot due to a bad job done and it's more expensive anyways so no point!!
