Date @ NOOK (DIY House of Pancakes)

HEY GUYS

I went to Nook the other day with my dearest boyfriend and i had so much fun!
If you don't know about Nook, it's a place whereby you purchase a selected batter, and you cook it along with toppings yourself!
We were flipping pancakes for like 3 hours? No one actually stayed that long HAHAH like people who came after us already left but we were still there wtf.

I'll definitely go back there someday though cause i really liked it!

Nook is located at Bukit Timah and here is the address:
Bukit Timah, 21 Lorong Kilat #01-03 Singapore (598123)

It's not exactly the most accessible location in Singapore so it took over an hour for us to get there via a direct bus!

DIRECTIONS: 
The nearest MRT station to Bukit Timah is Botanic Gardens, so you can just take bus 66 or 174 from the bus stop directly outside the station (don't cross the road)! It's around 15 minutes before you get there and the bus should pass by hwa chong, NJC and Bukit Timah Plaza.
After the bus goes by Bukit Timah Plaza, look out for block 18/19 and alight there!
You'll see the Bukit Timah CC ahead and a traffic light. Cross it and you'll be walking towards this long block with bungalows behind it. Walk to the back of the block and you'll see 2 pet shops and Nook is just next to it!

With an entrance that colourful i don't think anyone can miss it??? LOL

They had like bottles of batter in the "In Case of Emergency Break the Glass" box on the wall which was pretty cute hahaha

Okay so one thing that really confused me was their menu. If you are going there for the very first time you'll be thinking to yourself like wtf does that mean? Then the staff is never there to help you cause they're too busy standing at the corner talking or whatever (their service is pretty bad) but after a long 15min we finally figured it out.
There are 2 menus, 1 in which you order in bottles. So it's $10 for a bottle with a free topping + $1.50 for subsequent topping. Easy.
But then their 2nd menu stated that "1 Flavoured Batter $25" and "2 Flavoured Batter $28" and these come with 3 toppings. And Ritche and i were thinking wtf why is it so much more expensive on this page for a bottle. And what the fuck do they mean by 2 flavoured batter??? Do they like fucking mix the batter together or it comes in 2 separate bottles? If 2 separate bottles then just $3 more than the "1 Flavoured Batter" REALLY MEH? Then what if we order that $28 one then they end up mixing the 2 different flavoured batters together and it tastes damn weird?

So we were having a really hard time choosing between this weird set and the $10 per bottle set and eventually i figured that the $25 and $28 set comes in a JUG. So like they give you a jug of batter instead of the bottle so it's like 3X more in quantity.

Really leh wtf is with their menu they didn't state ANYWHERE that it comes in a jug, no pictures nothing. It's just confusing as fuck?

Eventually we ordered the bottled ones instead. There were several flavours to choose from between the Original, Chocolate, Red Velvet, Banana, Pandan and one more i can't remember. And their toppings are those usual fruits, chocolate sprinkles etc. They had ice cream too but it was like $3 per scoop.

Their toppings are really sad as you can see it was extremely tiny LOL.

Adding on to what i said about bad service, they took like 10 minutes to serve the batter with the banana and apples. Then we also ordered cheddar cheese so we were waiting for it to arrive before we start and after waiting like ages for it we had to ask before it was brought to us lol how hard is it to actually serve 3 toppings and 2 batters...
Then OBVIOUSLY, we do NOT know how to read fucking jap/korean on the cooking thingy so they should be the ones telling us how to operate it, what temperature to set at but no, they don't help you with anything. Like really do they even train their staffs.
I could totally work there right now not knowing anything about the shop leh?

We were starving and the pancakes were taking ages to cook cause the thing wasn't heated up (thanks to the extremely helpful staff) look at my poor starving chua HAHAHAH

We kept trying to flip it cause we were too hungry so the smiley pancake became disfigured HAHAHA

It was like bubbling so Ritche's (disfigured) heart shape had many ugly holes in it HAHAHA

he looked so damn focused while drawing it hahaha

Oh and i'm actually using my hand to eat the pancake cause those thin ones are just crispy and it isn't possible to use utensils LOL. Damn weird to think that they are actually pancakes.

I really had such a great time at Nook with the boyfriend and i don't think the pictures could show how much fun we had haha but it's really a great place to hang out!
Anw i read really bad reviews on their pancakes at Nook. People were saying about how it's too sweet and all.
I do believe that they may have revised that cause it was just nice in my opinion. If they made it really plain and their toppings are so pathetic it's impossible to finish the whole batter. I wonder why no one complained about their terrible service though. All the customers entered the place looking so lost LOL.

Next post would be on baby Bashful, Ritche and I just got her 2 days ago and i can't wait to share her pictures hehe.
