HEY GUYSSSSSSS
For day 3 it was an extremely eventful day so of course, a whole lot of photos in this post!As mentioned before in my previous blog post, Ritche and I hired a driver for the day which costs 450k rupiah ($50 SGD).
All we had to do was to tell the driver our plan, which was to Ubud so we could visit the famous monkey forest, then go to Tanah Lot for the sunset!
It was like 2 hours to get to Ubud if you don't make any stops from Kuta, then 1 hour to Tanah Lot from there, then another hour back to the hotel.
Here's our driver Mr Torik hahaha hello~ he doesn't like to smile for the camera as you can see.
He's really a very nice guy and just wants to make sure that we have fun on our trip to Bali!
He's also the boss of the driver whole day tour company. Will leave down contact details at the end of the post!
Instead of driving us straight away to Ubud he suggested quite a few stops in between so we could buy souvenirs, snacks or even take tourist shots!
He said like there's no point rushing straight to Ubud when a trip is about relaxing and enjoying haha.
Couldn't agree more but Singaporeans really don't know how to take a break most of the time.
He actually asked if we wanted to take photos in Balinese wedding outfits, then he was showing me his previous client's balinese wedding photoshoot.
I actually felt like doing it just so i could take more photos with Ritche but i didn't fancy the costume LOL sorry.
Plus it was too hot to wrap myself in so many layers for an outdoor shoot. I was way too lazy for that too (or anything in particular).
Even though i told Torik we didn't want the Balinese wedding photoshoot, he still brought us to the place, not to force us to do it of course.
But to help us take photos for free as a memory of Bali!
Like he was actually quite good as a photographer, telling us to do like a different shot or pose at all kinds of different spots.
I really appreciated how he still wanted us to take photos though we didn't want the balinese wedding shoot (cause he'll get commission i'm sure, if we said we wanted it). It's very rare for people to initiate something when they get nothing out of it. Like why would they bother but well he sure does haha.
Other than the toilet sign this photo is pretty much perfect hahahaha
Really loved how the photos turned out!!!
He was really directing us to walk up the steps then like pose with the statues and stuff.
Ritche and I are those who are super paiseh to trouble people so we would never have had such photos if Torik didn't ask us to pose here and there haha.
Really one of my favourite parts of Day 3!
He even plucked out a flower and asked me to put it in my hair HAHA.
We really took quite a few photos (didin't upload all haha afraid i'll bore you guys to death with so many couple shots) before we did some SUPER DUPER cheap shopping at the same place!
Like they were selling shirts at $2 SGD, certain bags at $1+ SGD and all sorts of souvenirs!
Torik still asked them to give us a special 15% discount despite it being so cheap already haha.
Like seriously speaking, the cheapest shopping we've done in Bali was at these places he has brought us!
PLUS almost every shop we get extra discounts thanks to him hehe.
We were intending to visit some temple we searched up online which is located at Ubud. But apparently that isn't even famous or big.
So he brought us to one of the biggest ones in Bali known as the Pura Desa Temple!
It was compulsory for everyone to wear a sarong before entering the temple haha.
Does my boyfriend look good in a maxi HAHAHAHA
Anyways from this point onwards, it was SO DAMN HOT AND GLARING, i couldn't focus on taking pictures anymore.
I could hardly see the photos on the viewfinder. So i'm sorry for the substandard photos :'(
Sun too glaring for my eyes to even open completely LOL what the shit is this
Boyfriend too handsome... even auntie also have to check him out until like that HAHAHA
That stare omg someone spell creep or freak please?
I just lifted up my arms in the air with my camera in my hands and snapped this shot before walking away.
Yup didn't even bother to check if i took anything at all LOL.
Balinese instruments! I had the privilege of being able to play some of these instruments with my music classmates when i was still in SOTA.
We had like this music workshop for a few hours? Probably amongst the very few nice things i experience being in that crap school.
Ritche has serious issues with taking photos straight HAHAHA just look at that omfg so off center?!!!!
Went to take a look at hand painted blankets and bedsheets shortly after! Amazed by their patience and talents.
Just look at the number of blankets displayed?! There were even more actually,it was from one end of the room to the other.
Every single one is one of a kind which is pretty cool if you ask me.
Like nowadays you go to robinson you'll see what you have at home, at your friend's house, grandma house. So damn fucking boring pls.
Lunch break near Ubud because we were famishedddddddd
Rare moments when i capture ritche's smile heheheheh
Torik told us that Ubud is actually very famous for it's grilled duck, also known as Bebek Panggang! So it was really a must to try.
They actually have 2 kinds of duck there, which is grilled and crispy but he recommended the grilled one so we just had to try it!
You see, the restaurant is called Bebek Semar Warung, literally calling themselves the duck restaurant LOL.
Who the hell would go to a restaurant called duck and not order it?you must be sum-ting-wong leh
Here's their address just in case you wanna visit them when you go to Bali:
Bebek Semar Warung
Jl. Raya Mas, No. 165 Mas
Ubud, Bali 80571
CANT FORGET TO MENTION HOW WE WERE OVERLOOKING THE PADDY FIELDS OMG
Absolutely loved the whole setting and ambience to the restaurant.
Flower in Hair - conveniently plucked out by torik
Statement Necklace - Lovisa
Mint Bralet - www.StyleHacks.net (launching in April's collection)
Scallop Checked Skirt - Online
After i saw the coconut being served i couldn't help but go OMG hahaha cause it's so damn cute?!
Plus it was damn huge! Like bigger than my face LOL i really wonder how they serve this if there's a big crowd.
The person in charge of drinks confirm damn pek cek.
Just look at how they have to chop the coconut's surface for eye lids, put toothpicks and fruits for eyes?
Drooling yet?
Yes this is the famous Bebek Semar grilled duck!
It was a little spicy itself but still came with 4 kinds of chilli for it haha.
Though Ritche isn't a fan of spicy food he was still using the chilli, such a rare sight.
I can swear that i've never eaten so much duck in a meal cause i'm not a fan but this was really so damn good.
It doesn't have the usual strong duck taste like those you'd find at hong kong duck rice stalls if you know what i mean!
Oh oh and this cost just 85k Rupiah ($9.50 SGD) and the serving is definitely too big for 1
The locals sure seem to like taking photos for tourists HAHA
We didn't even have to ask, they actually just walked over and asked if we would like a photo taken!
LOVE LOVE THEIR SERVICE can't be found elsewhere in year 2014 anymore. It's like every country's service is deteriorating by the day.
FINALLY. The monkey forest that we were DYING to go for haha.
We both agreed that it's worth the travelling time and the inconvenience so we went ahead to hire a driver for it!
I will NEVER regret that decision cause it was so so so cute.
Here's the address:
Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
Padangtegal, Ubud
The entrance fee is 20k Rupiah ($2.20 SGD)
I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you bring a whole lot of bananas and peanuts
BUT put them in your bag and only hold a few in your hand at once because the monkeys might snatch them when you are focused on other things LOL.
If you hold peanuts and sit at a spot, it's highly likely for a cute monkey to come along, sit on your lap and just eat it one by one!
BLOODY CUTE RIGHT, I KNOW OMG. I absolutely loved that place!
You compare this to the river safari in singapore HAHAHAH omg joke sia.
We went the other time, and we walked the whole monkey enclosure, only to catch a glimpse of a monkey running and hiding.
Camera captured -> NOTHING.
But this monkey forest you can see like probably more than 50 monkeys all around just sitting down and lepaking!
Then some are sitting on the floor eating bananas fed by tourists.
Some were SWIMMING. and like jumping from a height to the water for a splash hahaha.
Some were fighting which was quite scary to see.
And some were mating......which i didn't really want to see but saw right at the entrance. Well you'll see through the pics.
Oh but another thing to note, is that other monkey forests in Bali apart from Ubud's, are NOT recommended.
I heard how the monkeys there would take shades, necklaces, and basically any accessory they see on tourists!
NOT ONLY THAT, they are known to be aggressive and even pull your hair like wtf. I'll be damn freaked out lol.
I have no idea how the monkeys can differ so much in terms of their character in all these places. Ah k time to shut up mel.
This one looked damn fierce LOL kiao ka and all. So gangster~
We just entered the monkey forest when we saw this LOL then ritche and i had this moment of shock.
Like we suddenly stopped talking and was just stunned?!
before we knew it the male monkey just grabbed the female monkey out of NOWHERE and just straight away went on this position lol.
Like really the male monkey was just sitting down seconds before it ran and grabbed the female monkey.
Definitely rape, poor female monkey :(
Noticed that tiny monkey hanging upside down from it's mother? SUPER CUTE!
Monkey: "UM NOM NAM NAM NAM NAM"
*meanwhile looks for more banana*
Monkey: "Well do you have any for me? :'("
*puppy eyes*
Monkey: :( "well i guess not....now it's just my banana peel and i"
*sobs*
HAHAHA THIS SHOT OMG the way the monkey looks up at me TOO CUTE
i'm pretty sure they act cute to get bananas from tourists if not how is it possible for them to be so damn cute omfg
Monkey: *looks down*
"Well i guess, it's my last tiny piece of banana :("
HAHAHAHA
Monkey: *looks up in the sky and prays*
"Lord, can you please rain bananas"
HAHAHAHAHHAH OMG i can totally create a monkey comic book using these photos i took
"ahh, why isn't it raining bananas yet..."
Mother Monkey: "Stop swimming before you catch a cold! Get out of the pool, NOW."
Baby Monkey: "WO BU YAO WO BU YAO"
LOLOLOL
But seriously the baby monkey didn't want to stop swimming it was damn cute hahaha
Their movement is super swift so i was really lucky being able to capture a monkey trying to jump into the water!
Monkey: "Sian, today got put on sunblock or not ah. I think i became tanner already?! Won't look good in photos already la walao"
Monkey: "Dont take picture of me la walao i never put make up today can't you see?!"
Monkey: "one must always wash his/her hands before meal time :') BUT WHERE'S THY SOAP?!"
Monkey that just finished watching Miley Cyrus' twerking video obviously HAHAHAHA
Monkey: "sexy enough now? :P"
Monkey: "aiyo so many people taking pictures and videos of me twerking i very paiseh" HAHAHAHA
damn act cute sia this monkey LOL
Saw a few sweet potatoes thrown on the floor and none of the monkeys went for it haha i guess it wasn't fresh.
Ritche and i picked up a piece to try our luck with feeding a monkey.
AND SO ritche finally got approached by a monkey and i was so eager to capture the moment of it being fed BUT
HAHAHA IT JUST STROLLED BY RITCHE TOTALLY UNINTERESTED.
Ritche was totally transparent omg so poor thing LOLOL.
Monkey: "sia la she got potato"
Me: "EH, li ai mai (you want or not?!)"
Monkey: "aiyo... take from her like that i also paiseh" *blush*
BUT THIS MOMENT WAS UNFORGETTABLE
The monkey was actually smiling at me?! BLOODY CUTE OMG can i bring you home plspls i will smile to you on a daily basis.
Anyway after it took the sweet potato from me and walked a distant it dropped the potato and didn't even bother to pick it up LOL.
I don't even know why it bothered to take it from me in the first place but it was really too cute.
CAN I NAME YOU SALLY HAHAHA.be my monkey :'(
Couldn't bear to leave the monkey forest but it suddenly started pouring out of nowhere.
Headed over to Tanah Lot Temple after because we wanted to catch the famous sunset!
Slept through the ride because i was too damn exhausted from the journey.
There were several things to buy from here which ranges from clothing, to dreamcatchers, bar soaps etc.
I honestly feel that the pricing was considered as cheap ONLY IF you bargain like crazy.
Like even if you feel that the price they named at first is fine, STILL, JUST DO IT. Shoot for a half price.
I bought 2 dreamcatchers at half the price they first named and they were big and super pretty!
The big ones we got, were only about 40-50k rupiah ($4-5.50 SGD)?
You have to pay 10x OR MORE for those you get in Singapore. Especially the overpriced ones at scape.
Brave girl who was holding the snake like it was an absolutely harmless creature or like it was a toy or something serious.
Mandatory shots hahaha
It's like a must to be in photos when you're overseas just to say that "I WAS HERE" LOL
When it's low tide you're actually able to see the fishes swimming away from the sea!
It was like a mini aquarium with crabs and all.
Ritche.was.super.fascinated. HAHAHA.
I was like eh faster faster lets go before we miss the sunset and he just had to stand there for a lot longer +
tell me "eh eh! there's a crab here leh." "omg the fish in this one is SO BIG!!!"
This is my boyfriend for you hahahha
Sadness because it was super duper cloudy after the rain :( which also means we can almost not see the sunset sigh
Well this is really nothing compared to the one we caught at boracay for 2 nights haha.
I guess it really depends on your luck! If it's raining then there's really no point in going to Tanah Lot!
Dinner at a seafood place near Kuta! Wasn't fantastic so i wouldn't bother giving it's address lol.
I took so many photos that day especially at the monkey forest until my camera was flat though it was fully charged!
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, like even in Europe, i couldn't drain my camera's battery even if i used it for the entire day.I never ever thought it was actually possible! LOL. But the photos turned out quite good, well at least for the monkey forest ones.
I hope you enjoyed the post as much as i did typing all of it hehe.
Maybe i'll be tempting more of you to go to Bali for a holiday cause i am in love with that place!
OH AND NOT TO FORGET, here is Torik's contact number. +62 818 556209
He can be contacted 24/7 through whatsapp, WEchat, LINE and even blackberry messenger LOL.
And when i say 24/7 i really mean it.
He almost never sleeps except between stops when we would be taking an hour or something, he'll take a short nap.
He could still go clubbing after driving us for the entire day on our Day 3! WHERE DOES HIS ENERGY COME FROM.And i thought i was the younger one?! LOL (ritche is even worse, forever tired HAHA)
HEHE I WAS JUST DONE PACKING AND NOW I"M DONE BLOGGING WOOP
And can you guess where i'm going?
NONE OTHER THAN CEBU CITY AGAIN!
This time with a lot more planned in comparison to before because some of ritche's cousins who stay in Singapore are going back for a visit as well.
PLUS, it's his grandfather's birthday and they booked the 2nd best hotel in Cebu City for the whole family to stay in and celebrate!
Can't wait and they even have this red dress and red shirt theme?
SO CUTE HAHA i thought only like girls with their 21st birthdays would have such specific themes.
OKOK TIME FOR BED NIGHTS YALL
Many many ai to everibardy
Till next time! (to my favourite night EVER on Day 4 BALI)
