HEY YALL
Sorry it took me so long to start off this post because a few days back i realized it was barely a week to my exam. And i havent even studied a page out of 312 pages....
Wtf i am so screwed LOL dont worry i'll study later (i always say that HAHA)
If you haven't read up my day 1 post, all the info regarding getting around hongkong, the octopus card, airport express, the hotel we stayed at and stuff can be found here
ANYWAYS, day 2 in hongkong was planned to be a major shopping day!!!
So i got up really early and dressed up in comfier clothes because in my itinerary,
it states that we'll be shopping from 10am in the morning, until 10pm at night which turned out to be true LOL
It was seriously no joke walking and shopping for 11 hours straight (gave 1 hour break for our meals only)
However, because it was actually hongkong's national day, several shops were closed but that didn't stop us from shopping of course~
Will tell you how the shopping turned out for us cause it was really a different experience at different places!!
We left the hotel at about 10am to catch our shuttle service ~~
My boyfriend spent over 20 minutes to curl my hair in the morning hahaha it's his first attempt ever!!!
I finally got my first hair curler ever and it's known as the miracurl~
Apparently the reviews for that curler is everywhere and i still didn't know it existed until my friend told me about it
I have always been such a sua ku in terms of beauty related stuff lol
If you're a sua ku like me and you have no idea what a miracurl is, it is kinda like a machine that winds your hair in when you clam it against your hair, and coils it up inside, so it turns out to be curly after about 3-5 seconds!
When i asked my friends how it worked they actually said "when you kiap your hair with the curler, then it will suck up all your hair, then when you let go it becomes curly"
And it was just so hard to believe it actually works HAHAHAHA
But yeah i have extremely thick hair and i really couldn't tell what i was curling and so my pro boyfriend helped me with it~~
OOTD in contrasting printzzzzzzz
Taking outfit shots at our hotel before leaving because the place is too perf~
OOTD:
Cropped top from COSkorts from Factorie
Gear Fit watch by Samsung
Necklace from Lovisa
Hologram Platforms from Stylehacks
This is actually part of the hotel!! Can you believe it??
I would totally pick this over those typical carpet flooring at 5 star hotels with sofas and a receptionist there lol
It really gets too predictable and boring sometimes
So being in hongkong is all about getting lost right? First part of our day and we were already lost.
We actually took the MTR from Meifoo station to Lai Chi Kok station (as directed by GOOGLE MAPS), looking for the Cheng Sha Wan wholesale market
When we got out of the station we saw this mall (that didn't look promising) but it was called "Cheng Sha Wan Fashion Plaza"
and we walked back and forth thinking if the wholesale market stated online was this "fashion plaza" in front of us lol
We ended up asking several locals and they didn't manage to tell us much info and so we decided to give the mall a try
Most of the clothes sold there were stuff i wouldn't wear until i have grandchildren HAHAHA and omg i was so damn disappointed!!!
We left the place and actually continued walking around to look for this "Cheng Sha Wan Wholesale Market" and of course it lead nowhere
YOU KNOW WHY? cause it wasn't even at Lai Chi Kok MTR to begin with
Cheng Sha Wan Wholesale is actually located at Cheng Sha Wan road, and so when i googled, they told me to alight at Lai Chi Kok MTR
BUT, Cheng Sha Wan road is actually SUPER LONG and it spans from Lai Chi Kok MTR to Sham Shui Po MTR (3 stops) wowow so specific
At first i still didn't know this fact,so we were already thinking of dropping the idea of finding this Cheng Sha Wan Wholesale
But idk what triggered us to try our luck and alight at Cheng Sha Wan station to take a look, but we did (wasn't such a bad idea)
Despite constantly being lost in Hongkong, they actually have places that segregate their shopping streets!!
Cheng Sha Wan Wholesale is actually split into different categories such as Electronics, Toys, Shoes, Fabric, Beads, Food and Fashion so each street sells a different thing, even though these streets are pretty much all connected and located at the same area (really different from all the other street markets i've been to!!)
And it was really true, when you see the electronics street it was really strictly electronics along the whole stretch and for shoes, it's shoes and nothing else!!
However i would say that this area is really for the locals cause electronics stuff would include lots of home appliances that tourists wouldn't buy....But it was still quite a sight!
Do note that they usually open during business hours between about 9am to 6pm~
Looked for lunch first because food is always a priority wherever i am HAHA
I WAS STARVING and ritche was craving for dim sum so we decided to hop by this place recommended by locals
It is located at Ki Lung Street (good luck with finding it omg it took us more than 10minutes)
We were supposed to "dian cai" like literally tick what we want on their order form
BUT, EVERYTHING WAS IN CHINESE OMG, no english translation and NO PICTURESI had no idea what everything was and ritche had to go outside and see what each item was based on the actual menu with photos
idk why they don't provide the menu lol
He took a snapshot for me and i was like zooming in to see what items they actually serve here and like match the chinese characters to that on the order formThe only thing i could read in the whole menu was LIU SHA BAO because it wasn't in traditional chinese haha
If i'm not wrong the ones indicated in red are probably their signature dishes
Idk if it was because we were too hungry or what but we ordered freaking 8 DISHES LOL
We were almost about to order more what the hell and on the receipt it stated 3-4 pax... that's like double the portion???
And i saw this table of 4 shortly after and they only ordered like 6 dishes HAHAHA
I think it's because we don't eat dim sum so often so we don't even know how much to order for 2 people
I mean like each portion for dimsum always looks really small so well i guess 8 portions seemed kinda logical......
Oh and as you can see the food price ranges from 15 HKD to 28 HKD ($2.50 to $4.50) which is really cheap for a restaurant!!
Full house with a long queue outside that's why i was panicking when writing my order LOL
what if the people chased us out or scolded us for being so slow :(
The locals look extra annoyed and unfriendly especially during peak hours and it's just scary haha
Honey Chicken Feet, Pork with Steamed Rice, LIU SHA BAO!!!! and their signature fried mini char siew buns
Their Charsiew Buns were quite good but the filling was quite little!! 8/10
And what the heck ritche made me eat my very first chicken feet LOL i was really confused
Is it basically supposed to taste just like the thicker version of chicken skin???
The whole time i could only think why people would eat this and how the chicken's feet is grey before being cooked
and their nails have lotsa dirt trapped in it and the skin is really wrinkly and kinda gross, and i just like couldn't stop frowning what am i eating what am i to feel...... LOLOL
But well it wasn't as bad as it looks or sounds, 8/10???
We really intended to order just siew mai, maybe i didn't look at the picture clear enough but it came with these two brown things
All i know is...i didn't like those two brown things LOL what is that even
Ritche ordered this without knowing what it was but he said "cause it looked good in the picture ma"
And it was fish maw!! Ok la not too bad how good could fish maw get anyways
CHEE CHONG FANNNNN
The people here just serve a few orders at once and the sauce they'll just place at some remote corner of the table so i had no idea it was for the chee chong fan and so i ate it like completely plain and it tasted so odd
Carrot cake which was sadly too oily and i would prefer the ones in singapore
Me already looking a bit fatter from all the food LOL
If i were to come back to this dimsum place again, it would be for their LIU SHA BAOOOOOOO
I rated it a 9/10 for the bao at that time, but now i would rate it 100000000000/10 cause i would do anything to be able to eat one of those right now
OMG I WANT
And though we ordered a meal meant for 3/4 pax, the meal was only 149 HKD ($24.50 SGD)!!!
Again, emphasizing that the food in hongkong isn't that expensiveShoes street that sells lotsa boots for guys!!! Was hoping to see heels or something but i didn't see any lol
We then took a train to Sham Shui Po MTR (just 1 stop away) and once you come out of the exit the whole area is practically filled with fashion wholesales!!
This is my fav part to the Cheng Sha Wan Wholesale Market of course.
How this place works is, pretty much everything in their shop is STRICTLY wholesale ONLY and they will only allow you to purchase it at 6 pcs per design
And the pricing per piece even for wholesale was crazy expensive, like about 90 HKD or 140 HKD ($15 to $23 SGD)
If you wish to purchase it as a single piece for their wholesale design (if they even allow it at all) it'll be for almost double the wholesale price
I TOLD YOU THEIR CLOTHES ARE REALLY EXPENSIVE
But of course you're kinda paying for the quality of the material and cutting as well and it's really different from those you find in bangkok
If you're looking to buy cheap clothes you should take a look at their sale racks they place in front of their shops for about 20 HKD ($3.30 SGD) to about 80 HKD ($13 SGD)
You might think that the usual sale sections are all the crap clothes from the end of a trending season but some of these shops are left with maybe 1-5 pieces for their sale rack and since they only do 6 pc wholesale, they are willing to let go for a lot lower and clear it individually!!
SO, the clothes might still be really really nice.
Well i wouldn't say i managed to get a whole lot of clothes from here but many of my buys from here were really unique, of higher quality and at a cheap price.
(you'll see at the end of the post with what i got!!)
One thing about shopping at their wholesale areas is that once you step into their shop space beyond their sales rack they'll start shouting at you from the back of the shop "WHOLESALE WHOLESALE ONLY"
It was like as though they were trying to chase me out of the shop or something and even after i said i know it's wholesale,
the lady still pointed to the sign on the wall "WHOLESALE" like fuck i understand english can you just leave me alone LOL
I cannot buy wholesale items meh???? Bitch please
Well it was frustrating cause they're not interested in non regular wholesale buyers and their service there is really bad
Do also remember to bring a tote bag or something because at this area they do not provide carriers!!
omg this shop
they were selling this really perf outerwear but it was going for like 180 HKD ($30 SGD) and it was just really not worth the money
If you're planning your itinerary for Cheng Sha Wan i would suggest just placing about 2 hours there will do
After buying about 700 HKD worth of clothes ($115 SGD) we moved on to Mongkok!!!
When you get to Mongkok station, take the Exit D2 and Argyle Centre is just around the corner!!
This place is my FAV spot out of all the days of shopping in Hong Kong (MUST GO MUST GO)
It's pretty much the Far East Plaza of Hong Kong with nicer shoes and nicer clothes~~
Most of their clothes range from about 70 to 200 HKD ($10-30) and it's usually at about 100 HKD ($16 SGD) on average
Well i tried my best to talk to the shop owners and found out that most young locals would shop here and it sure seemed like i was at the right place!
Do try the cold noodles at the basement of this mall known as "Bai Wei Cold Noodles".
It's basically just cold noodles mixed with all kinds of cold ingredients if i'm not wrong!! I've read many good reviews before i got there.
But i still didn't try cause we were still super super full thanks to lunch LOL and idk cold noodles doesn't sound like my thing
This shop obviously isn't the nicest ones in the mall but wa, i could swear at this point ritche was already buying tote bags just to fit all the clothes and shoes i bought (there were too many plastic bags to carry so tote bags made more sense)
And our arms were both aching and our legs were breaking so we really didn't have any mood for photo taking LOL
We stepped into the mall at about 3pm and when we were out it was so so dark LOL
We spent over 3-4 hours in the mall though it was just 4 floors and i didn't even look through every shop (because ritche looked like he was struggling with all the stuff i bought)
Actually for this Argyle Centre, i would recommend entering almost all the shops cause even though it might not look like your style from outside the shop
They actually carry quite a variety of designs and who knows, you might just find something you like!
And most shops do not sell the same things as others. You might only find that 1 design in the whole mall.
Cause i went back to Argyle Centre on the last day of my hongkong trip and i still managed to buy quite a few pieces of clothes (i was quite surprised)
It's kinda funny though how they might carry some of the designs you might see in Bangkok or Singapore but the material and quality is totally different
super extreme protesting~~
We decided to go to this random noodle shop that was rather packed with locals for dinner because we were too tired to walk elsewhere to look for food
And the weather in hk is really PMS-y it was like drizzling for a few minutes but it didn't exactly rain then it stopped and started again???
But this place really had nice dumpling noodles it was so so good and so so cheap
This was only 19 HKD ($3 SGD) and wa the service was so quick we didn't have to wait more than 3 minutes
Their 7 HKD ($1 SGD) ice lemon tea was so good i just had to order another one with take away before leaving the shop hehe
This meal for 2 was only 52 HKD ($8)
We went to Nu Ren Jie after dinner and it only took us less than 10minutes to walk out haha
It was SO OVERRATED. Why do people even go there omg.
It was strictly for tourists and it was no different from Chinatown. For some shops they don't even allow photo taking, they put signs like
"No free photo" so you literally have to pay just to take a photo of their shop WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU
The subsequent photos pretty much shows everything they sell here.
And btw, amongst all the places i've shopped in hongkong so far, this is the most repetitive row of shops ever.
What in the world, thongs for guys with bird feathery designs???
It was one of the only places for fake branded bags though!! but not my kind of thing
Dont really know why they call this nu ren jie, women's market, when they sell all kinds of stuff
I was expecting like lots of female apparels, accessories and shoes but no lol not even close!!!
We later proceeded to Fa Yuen Street that sells both female apparels and a limited number of male apparels
But Ritche managed to buy a few pcs from this really nice shop! He got 2 shirts and 2 t shirts for about 600 HKD!! ($80 SGD)
They had a street with several converse, nike, adidas, new balance and asics going for about 30 percent off!!
And the pricing before discount is already cheaper than that of Singapore's retails.
Ritche managed to get a really nice pair of nikes from Toronto Dynamics and the price before sale was 1.2k HKD and after discount it was about 800+HKD (from $200 to $140) and it's probably about $230 in Singapore!!
After walking until about 10pm we were really at our limits lol
I could swear i've never walked this much on a trip and carry so many things through the entire day without going back to the hotel to put them down first
We headed over to the macs near our hotel to sit down and chill for awhile before going back
The weather on day 2 was insanely hot and we really needed the aircon before our walk back to the hotel!!
Oh and i bet you've never seen this!! It's also a new thing in HK's macs
It's actually called "Apple Pie A-La-Mode" but was really just hot fudge sundae with an apple pie cut in half and stuffed in a cup altogether
BUT IT TASTED HEAVENLY. I didn't expect it to work out so well as a combo together but it sure did
It was like the even mix of hot and cold and apple pie tastes good with chocolate syrup!!!!
I'm so going to do this one day in SG hahaha everyone would think i'm crazy though
This cost only 10 HKD ($1.60 SGD) which is the usual price of the hot fudge sundae only when in SG
Most of the meals in Macs at HK costs on average $4 SGD!!
Too lazy to unpack everything. Can you imagine carrying all of that from 10am???? This is only part 1
That is part 2 and part 2 includes heavy bags and 3 pairs of heavy shoes LOL
Here's most of what i bought for day 2!
Well if you're curious to know what the pricing of the items were i'll try but i dont have full photos of all the items (i was dead tired)
From Cheng Sha Wan Wholesale:
The tiger statement dress in the mid was only 50 HKD ($8 SGD)
The white laced bomber jacket next to it was for i think 80 ($13)
The Floral printed jersey next to it was for 60 ($10)
Fa Yuen Street:
The gold skirt below the blue plimsolls were 120 i think ($19)
Argyle Centre:
Long Knit Cardi with pins and embroidery was my most ex buy 190 ($30)
Knit Striped Cropped top was for i think 50 or 60 ($9)
Caged Bralet below it was kinda like a sun bian just buy thing for 30 ($5)
The shorts next to the bralet was for 20 ($3.20) from Chengshawanwholesalemarket
The floral pullover on the right to the bralet was for 100 ($16) and the material is sooooo good
The floral leather jacket on the bottom right was about 80 i think ($13) and also from chengshawanwholesalemarket (i'm so sick of typing chengshawanwholesalemarket)
MY FAV BAG, the one right below the figurines that printed clutch was for 200 ($32) but the quality is (Y) and i freaking love it
The bucket bag below that clutch was from chengshawan FASHION PLAZA (that first mall i went to, and they sell clothes that i'll only buy when i've got grandchildren rmb???) and i bought it for 90 ($15) and it was pretty much because i was afraid i'll end up going home empty handed. Oh the irony. But i've been carrying that almost everyday since i have been back in sg hahaha.
The studded blue plimsolls on the right were for 130 ($20)
The Neon floral runners is the pair i'm selling on my shop under preorders AND I PAID SO MUCH MORE FOR IT IN HK WTF 200 ($33) wa wa wa and not forgetting the fact i had to carry it for the entire day and i had to put it in my luggage and drag it to hk airport and drag it to the cab and back home ok
Well but 200 was the cheapest amongst the rest of the shoe shops selling that pair.
And it was worth getting it first hand since they're like the prettiest sneakers i've got!!
Anws if i didn't mention the location it is as stated in the category la and i didn't mention the pricing of all the items but you get the idea!!
Ritche got these for about 20 HKD each ($3.20 SGD) and apparently they're selling in SG for at least $8 to $12 each. Damn it i should i bought more and sell them here.
And we have spent a few nights making these already and it's lots of fun!!
Ritche's father actually took like half of them when we were out and completed them when we were back hahaha
Ritche's super good quality shirtsssssss
His super pretty pair of nikes but this is such a bad photo LOL
OK LA that's all for now i really need to go and continue with my studying if not i...am...so...dead.
And did i really take more than 5 hrs to blog this post?!!!! WHAT
I'll be back with Day 3 in Hongkong Disneyland and Mongkok AGAIN but this time for GUY SHOPPING!!
OK LA BYE
Excellent post man!
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with your point that the Strong Relationships with your customer is the key,and Use the Language Your Customers Use. These two points are the main key points which we have to focus in B2B Marketing.
