BANGKOK // DAYS 1 TO 3 [PART I] - Platinum Fashion Mall, Palladium Mall, Shibuya 19

HEY YALL
I just came back from bangkok 2 days back and i'm glad to have brought just enough for the trip! Actually it wasn't really enough and i would have bought more stuff back if i brought more money there :( Ritche had to exchange SGD to baht on the last day cause we really didn't have enough for food and transport lolol.

I brought back 44kg worth of stuff, 3kg was probably the clothes i brought over to bangkok, 1 kg was ritche's loots and the remaining 40kg was really just a whole lot of clothes for StyleHacks and some shoes that i bought there heh,
kind of crazy i know. Who would have known 131 pieces of clothing, 10 caps and a few other things would be so bulky and heavy :/ The HUGE empty luggage i brought over was filled to the brim by day 3 (weighed 19kg after being filled up), filled half of ritche's luggage as well and had to fill 2 hand carry bags (8kg each) to the brim with clothes and caps. It was really a pain carrying it from the hotel to the mrt station and to the airport. And guess what? I was wearing my new 19cm night walker heels while dragging that luggage because it'll take up too much space in my bag wtf really,i almost died. (will post more pics of that in Bangkok post part II)

One thing i really regretted was to bring clothes there actually. I tried to bring as little as possible but i realized it was still a mistake to even bring any. Word of advice, only bring lingerie (or just bring one set if you're dirty as fuck LOL) and bring like 2 pairs of shorts including the one you're wearing there (if its just a holiday for less than a week in bangkok) because you may not find nice shorts that you'll really want to get there.but other than that it'll be very easy to find tops to match your shorts or dresses to wear for the rest of your trip.don't know if it's because i really have too many shorts of different kinds, highwaisted, low waist, studded, floral, button up, zipped, aztec, pastel, black, denim (and uh so many more) that's why i couldn't even find a pair of shorts that's super nice there.

Get on plane veh excited so must take pictures mah hehe
We're only 5months old but we're already on our first real trip together! Just feel like going anywhere and everywhere with Ritche as long as we can dig out the money for it :)

Top will be added in StyleHacks' next launch and i'm really loving the details! :)

There are actually 2 airports in Bangkok but i guess most of us would land up at the Suvarmahbumi Airport. To take a train to where you wish to go is really simple. The train station is super near to the arrival hall so you can't miss it.
And i guess most of you readers are really going to bangkok for the purpose of shopping right? Ratchaprarop Station is really the place with most of the main malls that people all talk about eg Platinum Mall, Palladium Mall, Shibuya 19 and many others. PLUS,it is walking distance of around 20minutes from Siam which includes MBK (also known as MahBoonKrong), Siam Center (no spelling error there), Siam Paragon, Siam Square and Central World.
If you're looking for a hotel you might want to choose one close to the mrt or close to a mall for the sake of convenience. If you stay closer to the mrt, then it'll be less of a pain to carry it to the mrt on your last day. If you stay near to a mall you can make a trip back to the hotel every hour to unload your loots (which is what i did HAHA it's damn heavy i swear my shoulders ache like crazy) because the proximity of the Ratchaprarop Station to the malls isn't super near honestly. It'll take you around 10-20minutes to get you from the station to a decent mall.

It costs 40baht per person (around $1.60 SGD) to buy a ticket to get you from the airport to Ratchaprarop Station which honestly isn't very cheap in my opinion when you compare it to other forms of transportation like taxi, starting it's meter from 35baht and moving at only 2baht every minute or something.i was really shocked when staring at the meter.it was as if it's faulty or something HAHA.i mean like you stare at the meter in singapore and you'll see it jumping over and over again like 10x faster than in bangkok.and 2 baht is like what, $0.08 SGD?!! but i'm telling you, taking taxi is a risk cause if you're stuck in a jam it could take you more than an hour to get to your hotel so just take the train.the traffic in bangkok is super unpredictable!

If you read my taipei post then you'll know how i really love the coin ticket concept (you must drop the coin into the gantry for exit).bangkok has the same thing! Don't know why singapore's so dumb to not have that yet.

On the first day we headed over to our hotel to leave our luggage there before taking a tuktuk to Chatuchak, the weekend market! The tuktuk ride to Chatuchak cost 100baht (4sgd) and the ride back to the hotel cost 180baht ($7+) and the tuktuk guy said it's more expensive cause there's a jam.it was 1pm and i really didn't think there'll be a jam but the tuktuk man wasn't lying.in Bangkok, whether it's 1pm, 2pm or 5pm there would be a jam. Only during the weird hours of the day like 3am there's no jam LOL.

Chatuchak does sell their things at quite a high price but some of the things sold there are rather unique.you can find clothes, shoes, food, souvenirs and guy clothing there. But really, their clothes there are not worth buying in my opinion,as you can find the same thing in other parts of bangkok at a lower price (by lower price i mean like HALF eh no kidding).

One trend i noticed would be tumblr pictures printed on male tanks, male shirts, female tees, tanks and cropped tops! It's seriously everywhere.

Street food is cheap everywhere though.even in chatuchak.that's ice pops for 4baht ($0.16SGD) if i didn't remember wrongly!

It's super duper hot and stuffy in Chatuchak so we couldnt stop getting drinks haha. Their caramel coffee was really quite good. 30baht ($1.20 SGD) was definitely worth it!

I realized how bangkok always uses pretty looking girls for adverts on the streets for anything and everything. An example would be this dance thing (i dont even know what they were promoting) at Chatuchak. Another example would be at Platinum Mall where pretty girls were giving out sanitary pad samples in the middle of nowhere??!? That's one of the things you'll probably never see in Singapore!

Cute uncle selling magic tricks haha

Mini eggs! They'll put soya sauce and some pepper on top and the whole tray of it costs around 20baht, less than a dollar SGD!

Bought some seafood pancakes and it was quite good! Would have been better if they gave more freshly made ones though.

One thing i realized about street food in bangkok would be that it's similar everywhere. Like if you buy this seafood pancake thing at chatuchak you can find it near your hotel, you can find it at the food court of platinum mall, you can find it while walking to siam. There's nothing much that's unique to the stall or area, so don't feel that it's a MUST to try when you see a certain street food for the very first time, you'll see it again.relax.
It's super unlike taipei as they have a whole whole whole lot of variety in their street food.if you buy it from somewhere you could almost never find the exact same thing sold at another night market!

While making our way back to the hotel! could have spent more time at chatuchak but i thought it was a waste of time since the things were mostly overpriced.

We were both very tired and feeling super nua cause we woke up at 4am that morning to get ready to leave the house for the morning flight so we decided to call for room service instead.

I ordered "Fried Fish Fillet with Tartar Sauce" and anyone ANYONE would immediately think of fish and chips or something right?!! LOOK AT WHAT I GOT WTF OMG

It's like those you find at chinese restaurants to pei with your rice :( and there was no tartar sauce what a lieeeeeee. I FELT LIKE A CAT.

In comparison to what ritche got for his order :( it was under the same section leh what's with the huge difference D: i was damn sad pls

Headed over to platinum mall and could only complete 1 floor out of 5 shopping floors that they have because we reached there at 5pm and wtf they start closing at 6+pm?! THEIR MALL OPERATING HOURS,IS A LIE.they stated there,BIGBIG 8pm but everything is closed by 7pm. So people, remember, practically all the malls close by 7pm so you must get up early to shop in bangkok.

Wanted to head over to 7-11 to get some snacks etc and look at what we saw along the way. We were both super grossed out and disgusted by the sight of the rats but just stood there to watch and take pictures HAHA. I SWEAR it was super huge and disgusting. There are at least 30 of them under that table.

Their macs has cheese, sour cream and onion, italian and berry mayo dips ok and they're 9baht each ($0.40) wtf singapore what are you even doing.

Had my very first samurai burger cause i'm a sua ku.

Day 1 was super disappointing and i was very upset after i reached the hotel cause i thought it was a mistake to come to bangkok to get stocks lol.look at my pathetic loots on the left side of the luggage at the end of day 1!

Day 2 and we decided we should wake up super early to shop since the shops all open and close so early anyway. Couple tank top we bought from Platinum :) Also bought 2 pairs of slippers and exchanged one side each hehe.

Hotel's breakfast in the morning was super pathetic. Fried rice with egg, sausage and ham, cereal and juice. That's about it LOL we really shouldnt have booked the hotel with breakfast.

Went to Indra Square's black canyon for lunch after shopping!

Leg all dirty from walking along the road from mall to mall cause it was raining :(

Salmon with rice for just 128baht i think (5 SGD) wtf

I ordered green curry and OMG IT WAS GOOD only cost 96 baht ($4 SGD) can you believe ittttt?

Had thai iced tea but i would still prefer the normal milk tea i guess.

That's my boyfriend trying to get WiFi HAHAHAHA we go everywhere trying to get WiFi connection

A meal like that for 315baht ($12.70 SGD) is damn worth it please.plus it was super good! That's why we kept going back haha.didn't really have anything else to eat around that area in my opinion...

Tabao-ed dinner from A&W near platinum cause we were lazy and wanted to rest a bit at the hotel after a long day of shopping!

We got a few snapbacks from shops near baiyoke! they have many designs to choose from and the guy was willing to give discount for multiple purchases!

Absolutely in love with my iron man cap hehe.have been wanting to get it since like forever! Super glad i bought it even though it was one of the most costly ones.

our OOTD before heading out for a long day of shopping on day 3!

We were shopping at shibuya 19 and the shops near baiyoke hotel in the morning on day 3 and LOOK.it was only a freaking hour.i couldn't even see ritche who was sitting opposite me HAHAHA.

Don't know what ritche was doing here in this picture but sure does seem like he's searching for WiFi connection again... HAHA

Recognize the place??????black canyon round 2 HAHA.this time i had mocha cause i really needed something to wake myself up i was feeling super grumpy.i'm obviously not a morning person :(

Prawnzzzzzzzzzz but still can't be compared to their green curry though.just didnt want to seem like a freak and order green curry again plus i don't want to tell my friends i went there to have green curry and green curry alone LOL.even though i really wouldn't mind that at all.HAHA.

Had to put this heavy shit ass bulky load on my legs while having a meal just look man it's so bulky it takes up my whole seat la.

bringing in this pretty cut out dress and the bold striped x leather cap in the next launch woop!

This is the picture of my loots on day 2

After packing that 1 hour's worth of clothes from shopping that morning on day 3....the luggage was almost full already.

We already prepared a list of malls to visit and Palladium Mall was one of it.i dont even care if i spelt it right wtf it was a crappy mall and apparently it was opened by the same owner as Platinum Mall like how is it even possible. Ok la you look at the exterior, seems like a decent mall but once you step in you'll know you're wrong. But anw walking towards Palladium you'll be able to find street shops selling jerseys, snapbacks, random thailand souvenirs, soap? (i'm not even kidding it is THAT random) and bikinis HAHA.

The bridge that links you to Palladium Mall! Oh but one thing that you could do when you're in Palladium is to get a massage. I saw a whole ROW of tourists getting a massage while taking pictures and all HAHA.and if you want to try your luck with buying bags there you could but they're totally not my style and really quite common.

Shops that sell crepe near platinum! Only costs 40baht. But really, you dont have to stand out in the heat to queue for a freaking crepe when the platinum food court on the 5th floor has the exact same thing for the exact same price and the exact same taste ok.coming to think of it i feel damn stupid to not explore the food court on the first few days cause they sell ALL SORTS of thai food no kidding.street food whatever food you want to find also have.will have pictures of it on the next post LOL.
Aiya but first bangkok trip in such a long time i guess it's only normal to be a bit blur and explore, waste time in crappy malls, not know where to eat, not know where to go and whatever. But i really thought i should have done more research before the trip but i was too busy with my mooncake job and too tired to do so after work.

Ate the crepe after i reached the hotel in a very messy way with my hands like a barbarian and ritche was just watching HAHAHA.but i guess if he didn't run off and is still sitting right next to me now then it's fine la hor?can do that all i want HAHA.

Had a whole lot of snapbacks at the end of day 3 and i forgot to take a picture of our full collection at the end of day 5 haha oh well

Thought we shouldn't waste time in the hotel and go visit asia tique (am i right?!) night market but the tuktuk driver convinced us not to go cause there's nothing much to explore and everything is overpriced.ended up just going back to black canyon for dinner again HAHAHA.all the staff seem to know us already and we felt pretty weird so we decided that that'll be the last time we go there (on this trip at least).

Okay that's all i have for part I of my bangkok post! It's really really short in comparison to my taiwan post and it lacks many details because my trip was mainly for shopping and buying stocks and since it's all around the same area there isn't much to elaborate on! Bangkok trips are really about exploring the area with many malls if the trip is for shopping. But on day 4 and 5 i did go to Siam shopping area instead and visit Huai Khwang night market so more on that in the next post! <3
