Cafe Hopping: Five and Dime / Fabulous Baker Boy

HEY YALL

I finally found the time to meet up with grace the other day and we decided to go cafe hopping!
We had so much to catch up on especially because we haven't met up for ages :(
She has started working full time and it just became even harder to find time to meet up oh well

One thing i love about Cafe hopping is of course, the fact that it's located at ulu locations
That's because there are perfect OOTD spots LOL
BUT whenever i suddenly crave for cafe food in the middle of town, all the cafes are almost impossible to get to
Or i'm just too lazy hahaha like walao you need to take bus walk so far just to eat and go home??
Those cafes that are nearer to malls are always so packed (like the overrated saveur) :(

First stop was Five and Dime located near clarke quay
We had to take a bus from the mrt station, just 3 stops, but it was really near the bus stop thankfully
According to google maps though, Five and Dime looks wayyyy closer to Somerset mrt HAHAH
Meeting at clarke quay was actually grace's idea

And her sense of direction........is nowhere near good LOLOL
I'm actually damn surprised we didnt get lost

Here's their address:
297 River Valley Rd, Singapore 238338

What really turns me off sometimes about eating at cafes would be the horrible service
BUT it's totally different here!
The staffs are super open to talking to you, recommend you on their popular dishes and see what you might prefer

Grace and her new PINK samsung camera LOL
Everything that belongs to her MUST be pink it's like a requirement
Some things just never change omg

omg i honestly forgot what this was called but it had some japanese name and it costs $18 LOL
but it was super nice!
Would rate this about a 8.5/10, something different compared to the usual boring carbonara / aglio olio pastas

They actually have an option to add toppings at a cost and i would actually recommend that because it might be a little plain
Especially if you eat the whole portion for yourself!

Chocolate Custard Lava Cake was about $10 BUT IT WAS AMAZING
Instead of the usual super overwhelmingly sweet lava cakes (since they're usually fully chocolate), this is really unique
Even though i really love chocolate, i would rather have the custard as the lava filling!
This is probably what i'll definitely go back for, a 9.5/10 haha

Next was Fabulous Baker Boy!
They are also located near clarke quay and this one is really a lot nearer to the mrt, so you could probably just take a walk there instead

We actually reached the place at about 4+ and we didn't know that they actually had a break in between their lunch and dinner hours :(
We ended up having to wait for over an hr!
They are closed from 4.30pm to 6pm on weekdays but on weekends they will still be open during those hours so do take note!

Well but at least there were many spots for photo taking hehehe

A few of the photos are actually really grainy cause Grace and I actually shared the photos via facebook
We didnt realize that the photos actually become SUPER pixelated
It was so bad it might have even been better sending through whatsapp seriously SIGH
I'm guessing the only way to share photos without having such crap quality would be via dropbox -_-
We took wayyyy more photos than this but walao the quality i cannot standddd

Finally got insideeeeeee omg we were like loitering around their cafe for so damn long LOL
I rather they just let us sit inside with no food till 6 also nvm, got aircon can already HAHAH

Sad to say that the cakes only looked really good and it all stops there lol

Even though the cakes weren't good but the ambiance was really not too bad
I wouldn't actually mind sitting in here to drink with my friends next time since they serve alcohol
People always drink in those super noisy / hot / overcrowded pubs around clarke quay
but there's this nice cosy one right here they haven't seen, though it's just right across the road LOL
We ordered their garlic fries cause well i was DAMN HUNGRY watching people eat aiya i damn itchy mouth
This one i quite like hehe
Maybe i'll come back to try their main course and have a drink instead of having their cakes though they're named as "baker boy"
Idk the name just made me have super high expectations for their desserts oh well

OKOK that's all i have for nowz
Till next time peepz :)
